CASE STUDY

In 2022 I started to feel uninspired so I decided to pick something that I am passionate about and create a re-design of something that I feel needed it. I started reading everyday and decided it was important to track my progress so I downloaded the app Goodreads. After learning the app and trying to understand it I found it incredibly difficult to do the smallest things within the site.

This lead me to re-designing the site and mobile app based on my pain points and how I could picture the app working to be successful. I shared my ideas and thoughts with friends and other readers and they also felt the need for some changes.

  • The website is incredibly busy with a lot going on which often makes things distracting

  • I also felt that the design and colours were very out of date and needed a refresh. Some colour was needed

  • For a site solely based on reviews I understand that copy will be heavy but I felt that some balance was needed

  • Lastly I was never satisfied with how the profile page would represent myself as a reader. Everything was confusing and difficult to find what you needed. I wanted it simplified to truly show what people are reading, have read and what they plan on reading
