My Design Story
Growing up I always knew I had a creative mind and spirit. Constantly designing the next idea that circled my mind big or small. I remember as a little girl reading magazines and looking at print ads on the street thinking how incredible the idea of print was. I would cut and paste pieces of magazines and old books creating my own layouts because at that time my family did not own a computer.
Once I started High School, I decided I needed to join every class that gave me the chance to design. I took art, communications technology, photography and eventually became the schools Yearbook Editor in Chief. This is where my love for InDesign started, I began to structure our entire yearbook from scratch with my team and creating something that I am still proud of from this day. Minus the typography choices… but hey when have we not used a horrible font?
Fast forward to College, I was accepted into the Graphic Design Advanced Diploma Program at Humber and I was incredibly excited and ready to start learning. Those three years were the hardest yet most rewarding years of my life and I wouldn’t change a thing. I learned so many skills that were required to set myself up for success in the real world.
After graduating, I started working at a little agency called CREO Group in Mississauga as a Graphic Designer which eventually led me to a much larger agency, Kenna Communications as an Art Director. After many years I decided to move into a new role at Grain Farmers of Ontario as their Creative Specialist. I have the absolute best time designing our monthly Grain Farmer magazine that gets sent out across Ontario each month. My love for agriculture has continued to grow alongside my creative career.
About Me
I am a small town girl who left for bigger dreams of wanting to see the world through a different lens. I am the first in my family to go to college and move away from Milton, Ontario. As I got older, I fell in love with the city life and everything that came with it.
I finally began to travel with my partner who I have loved since we were 16. I decided it was time to live life to the fullest once I started my career.
I have two cats, Johnny and Oliver, who are my entire world. I enjoy seeing concerts, comedy shows, and of course travelling. I will most likely quote something from The Office once a day. Finally, I am never ashamed of my Apple Music wrapped (even if some people may think over 400 plays of the new Taylor Swift album within 2 months may be a bit excessive).
